Death claims well known citizen J M Kreader

J M Kreader 80 died November 22 1938 at a Dalton hospital after confinement. A Dodge County native who served four terms as county sheriff and later as U S revenue collector at Fremont he lived in Potter before moving to west Dalton. A Mason awarded the Jordan medal in 1936 he was buried in Dalton cemetery after funeral at the Presbyterian church officiated by Reverend Kenneth Reeves.

Former Potter Lady Found Dead In Bed

Mrs. Caroline Streeter Ellenwood died in bed Thanksgiving morning at her mother's home in Kimball after months of illness from nephritis. She had lived in Potter and worked at Wells cafe and later Cords cafe. Funeral services were at the Presbyterian church in Kimball prior to burial in Elgin Nebraska. She is survived by her husband a son her mother and a sister.

Mrs. M. D. Hoper aged about 75, long-time Pine Bluffs resident, was found dead Friday in her home where the fires were out and the water had frozen. She lived alone and is survived by a daughter in Ft. Pierce, Florida, and a son in Lyman, Nebraska.

Cemetery Cleanup After Dust Storms Leaves Few Funds

The cemetery endured minimal cleaning this year as funds ran out from planting 76 trees and watering costs while dust storms covered the grounds killing grass. Weeds were allowed to grow to protect new grass, with a plan to finish cleanup after freezing conditions. It may take several favorable years to restore the plot to its former state.

The Methodist church auditorium floor was sanded and scraped, four coats of seal applied, with other rooms sealed. The new bright glossy finish replaces the former dark oily look. Services last Sunday were held in the basement due to ongoing work, performed by volunteer labor.
