Pioneer Citizen Gustav Myers Dies in Sidney
Gustav Myers a long time Potter area resident died in Sidney Nebraska in the early hours of Friday August 1 1930 after months of ill health He was 52 and had lived in the community since 1886 Funeral services were held at Potter Lutheran church Sunday August 3 with burial in Potter Cemetery Gehrig Stone Funeral Home in charge Rev W T Kahse officiated A large crowd attended and music was provided by local quartette The obituary notes Myers was born in Germany in 1878 immigrated with his family to the United States in 1886 and settled southwest of Potter He farmed most of life except for a period with the Union Pacific Railroad He was never married and left three brothers and three sisters and several relatives The family expresses appreciation for sympathy assistance and flowers during the bereavement

Congressman Bob Simmons accompanied by R Y Stuart, Forest Service chief, left Scottsbluff on July 24 for a train and auto tour through South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Utah lasting about three weeks. He will chair the Agriculture appropriations committee, studying forest nurseries, fire control, reforestation, recreation, timber research, and forest uses for ranges to guide funding decisions. A lost Brown traveling bag is sought by the review office with reward.

FORGER TOUCHES UP LOCAL MERCHANTS FOR TIDY SUM
A transient harvester cashed three forged checks on John Woten at Johnson and Hansen-Seyfang Henry's stores totaling 46 00 each and 38 00 respectively. The man, middle aged with a wife and child, had previously worked for Woten and copied a check to create additional forgeries. He also cashed checks at Dix Campbell and Houghtaling stores for 46 00 each before authorities caught him.

Fire destroys garage on Wiekhorst farm near Potter
Fire of unknown origin completely destroyed a 20 by 24 foot garage on the Wiekhorst farm northeast of Potter last Saturday evening. The occupants were away in town and firefighters arrived too late to save tools and other items. Origin undisclosed. Henry Pavlat and Mr Gehrig of Sidney were in Potter the prior Friday.
