Orchard Still Under Richardson's Fire In Big Trial At Boise

Harry Orchard corrected two statements after testifying in the Haywood trial saying Billy Ackerman aided in bombs at Cripple Creek not Billy Easterly. Defense pressed questions on whether the Independence depot explosion was a trap by enemies of the Western Federation of Miners. Orchard denied plotting with miners or railroad managers and said Moyer Haywood and Pettibone may be involved in related crimes.

Snake River On Rampage Narrowly Shortens Canal Damage

Reports say Snake River near Idaho Falls rose to flood levels due to warm rains and Tetons snowmelt. The headgate of the Anderson canal at Heise Springs loosened, spilling water into the river until workers closed the canal and diverted flow. Fort Hall irrigation plan moves toward Blackfoot reservoir

Civil Engineer W. A. Samms to survey a large storage reservoir on the Little Blackfoot river as part of the Fort Hall irrigation project funded by a $350,000 congressional appropriation. Woodmen Memorial Services Held With Large Attendance

The local Woodmen and Women of Woodcraft held memorial services yesterday with a large turnout. A 10 o clock parade from the WOODMEN hall to the cemetery included flowers and monuments for fourteen departed neighbors and two recently deceased Woodmen. Col H V A Ferguson gave the memorial address and Dr C B Steely spoke for the Women of Woodcraft. Judge Kane read the poem Why Should the Spirit of Mortal Be Proud.

Sheriff Kills Desperado Near Welch Spur

Sheridan Wy June 10 A sheriff and posse pursuing two Montana horse thieves shot and killed one robber who had held up a Northern Pacific passenger train at Welch Spur. The other bandit fled but remains at large as the posse presses the chase.
