Vern Walker pleaded guilty to breaking into Salt Lake Hardware in the wholesale district and was sentenced to 1 to 15 years in prison by District Judge Terrell. Pete Goiis admitted liquor possession and received 30 days in jail and a $50 fine. Frank oecolored also faced liquor possession charges and was fined $100 with no jail term.
The body of Lloyd Keet, fourteen month old son of banker J Holland Keet, was found in a well on Crenshaw farm near here. The infant was abducted May 39 from its home while parents attended a dance. Three men are believed to be the abductors who fled in automobiles.
Jake Crum, longtime local resident, has returned to the United States and is at Fort Myer Virginia after serving with English troops in France. He was wounded in France and later in England hospital care, then discharged and taught a National Guard unit in Baltimore before being sent to Fort Myer to pursue an Army commission. Crum hopes to earn a commission, fulfilling his ambition and leaving many local friends hopeful for his success. Correspondence may be sent to J. Cram 3rd company R O T C Fort Myer Va.
Pendleton Oregon June 9 Lee Caldwell bucking horse rider and claimed champion has been chosen captain of Troop D a cavalry unit formed by eastern Oregon cowboys as part of the Oregon National Guard Caldwell has appeared in wild west shows and roundups across the nation in recent years.
New York June 9 Tener suspends McGraw for attacking umpire Byron in Cincinnati yesterday.
Washington reports that the U S Army expects tens of thousands of motor trucks for use in Europe. Bids were opened this week and plants can produce them rapidly. The War Department does not plan to commandeer private vehicles as in Britain and France.
