Why Two Nations Went to War Over the Gran Chaco

A map shows Bolivia and Paraguay disputing the Gran Chaco triangle. Paraguay claims the southern sector between the Pilcomayo and Paraguay rivers with U.S. arbitration backing, and also contests the northern area where forts near Bahia Negra are located. Death Strikes Berlin Family in New York

Dry Law Violations More Than Double in 7 Years

A survey by the moderation league released today shows police in 388 cities recorded arrests for intoxication rising from 235 612 in 1920 to 557 369 in 1927. Daugherty Blamed for Christmas Disturbance

Investigators probe a Hollywood party at Miss Lottie Pickford's home after a Christmas morning fight. A man named Daniel EB Jaeger, injured with a lacerated hand, blamed ex-husband Dougherty for the worsening condition, though no complaint was filed.
