Orchard on the Stand in Pettibone Trial

Harry Orchard finished direct testimony detailing his arrest and imprisonment after Governor Steunenberg’s murder. He said he gave attorney Fred Miller an order on Pettibone to pay Miller money and disclosed receiving 3500 to 4000 dollars from the federation. He denied personal enmity toward victims but nearly broke down as names were read. on cross he admitted burning a cheese factory for insurance and fleeing with another man’s wife.
