By 1949 2 100 soil conservation districts existed across the 48 states Puerto Rico Hawaii Alaska and the Virgin Islands formed since 1937 covering 1 144 000 000 acres. The Soil Conservation Service and local districts produced 683 000 complete farm plans covering 187 million acres with 93 1 3 million acres treated.

Pocatello CCC Furrows Save City From Flood Debris
A CCC task force in 1930s cleaned and laid out more than 620 miles of contour furrows across 3000 acres east and west of Pocatello to curb spring floods and summer cloudbursts. The system reduced silt and debris in streets, saving the city thousands in cleanup and repair costs while restoring grasses and erosion control on the watershed.
