Pioche Fourth of July event crowned best ever

Pioche’s Fourth of July celebration drew visitors, with a drilling contest won by Pearson and Deck from Ohio Kentucky and Nevada Des Moines mines. Austin and Rollins placed second. The day featured literary exercises, a grand ball, and a Pioche Caliente ball game victory 19 to 7.

Lincoln County Board Completes July Session Actions

Lincoln county board of commissioners met July 1 with chair J A Nesbitt and members Banovich and Horsey. They approved June minutes, appointed J Vogel as justice of the peace, granted licenses and bonds, established Willow Springs school district, and authorized $100 monthly deputy for Panaca. They urged Pioche and other towns to adopt ordinances to collect gaming revenues for town funds.

Draft New Ordinances Clarify City Revenue From Gaming Licenses

Under the new law the towns and cities gain the benefits of all gaming licenses. Incorporated municipalities must place the revenue in the city treasury for its benefit. Unincorporated towns face a different disposition of funds under the act.

Leaders Drill Through Rock in Timed Contest

After a Fourth of July drill contest Carter and Empy challenged Pearson and Deck for 250 dollars. Friday evening the teams drilled. Pearson and Deck led with precise drill work and a rapid finish, while Carter and Empy initially resisted but agreed to drill at twenty one inches, with the result pending another session.

Highland district mining venture changes hands

W G Getehel transfers to John P Thomas and Chester Cook an undivided half in the Doubt mining claim near Mendah property. Getehel retains a quarter share and believes in the project. A Caliente edition of the Caliete Lode Express praises Caliente and Pioche, crediting Editor Patterson for the boost to the town.

Placer Find Brings Reports From Gold Bar Property

New placer find reported by FP D Goody arriving from Ogeeola claims superintendent Galby of Gold Bar property struck ore worth $1.25 per pan. The company has mined about $1,000 weekly from the Gold River below surface with $1,000 monthly expenses. Prospectors buzz over first Diesel gold strike. extensive staking around the area noted.
