Mendah Nevada Mining Co. Manager John R Cook returned with workers and supplies after a new strike at the 700 foot level opened a ore body five to six feet wide. The ore appears galena and lead carbonates. an assay engine is kept busy hoisting tonnage to the surface. Cook says the mine will become a leading shipper in the district.
The Ida May mine at Bristol is rumored to be struck with a large, decisive action. A reporter could not confirm details, but the mine’s history of strong ore production lends credibility. It is claimed W. A. Clark Jr. holds a bond and lease and will exercise it.
The Probe Water Company raises monthly rates with a pledge of improved service. Citizens urged tanks replacement for sanitary, fire protection, and conservation as population grows. Saloon accounts jump from two to ten dollars monthly. Real estate man M L Lee announces Henry H Lee sold lots 18 and 19 in Block 1 to Frank Vogler for 600 dollars. Vogler plans to build at Main and Eugene.
Correspondence from Searchlight Nevada reports Stanley Forbes Extension plans immediate development on a rich vein south of the Stanley Forbes property. G. W. Moyer secures top equipment, Jos. McArthur sets water-level sinking, with shafts and trenching revealing three fissure veins and promising ore. The Nevada Girl vein shows surface hornings along 1500 feet and a 40‑foot shaft yielding quartz with several ounces per ton. Leasing the New Era mill and a trial run are planned, with the Searchlight Comstock awaiting machinery to resume sinking after a sensational 65‑foot depth strike.
The Searchlight Bulletin announces a meeting on Tuesday night July 30 at 8 o'clock at Searchlight Bank and Trust Co to discuss plans for forming a local Chamber of Commerce. The note highlights the long apparent need and hopes for a vigorous meeting leading to a permanent organization.
Crescent Nevada may host a rising mine the Ajax Bullfrog with strong Straub family backing. The Wathena claim has been developed since 1905 with a shaft and crosscuts and plans for a five stamp mill to sustain continuous operation, aiming to soon yield ore and bullion.
The railroad has reached Panaca and crews are building a siding there. Panaca becomes the summer shipping point for Pioche and nearby districts until Pioche is connected. Reports of halting work are false. managers plan to hire more men and push progress to finish quickly. Pioche is the target, with a “Railroad day” promised before snow. A Bristol-Proche Company property load and crews head to Bristol district for rapid development.
A compiled list of property deeds mining notices and related filings across states and towns including Las Vegas Denver Pioche Caliente Searchlight Nelson and others. Entries show various deeds notices and proofs of labor dated on Tuesday Thursday and Friday with numerous Nevada locations and one California agreement.
W S Anderson, organizer of the Columbus Pioche and Georgia Pioche Mining Companies, returned from Ely and spoke of strong progress and plans to expand operations. Dr Thomas N Baker, a large investor, may provide funds to fully develop the Georgia Pioche property. Superintendent Mahedy oversees rapid work with potential increased force. Anderson will depart soon for the South to organize new ventures.
The Susan Duster mine owned by the Ohio Kentucky Company shows a growing ore body from the 100 to 300 foot levels with large, high grade ore. Drifts along the lead prove vast ore deposits, signaling a major advance for Pioche in what is described as virgin territory. A 300 foot level wing is being sunk to gauge extent, with high grade ore yet to be passed.
Mrs. Elvira Craw Frank Pasina L Garrison and H T Tranmer disposed of Quartz Spring lodes Nos 1 to 8 to Edward Thomars on by lease and bond seven and a half miles from Craws Ranch and twenty three miles northwest of Pioche The bonds promise promising showings and plan to develop the property with a company to manage the claims upon Thomar son’s return East.
Telegraph service gains are announced with a plan to extend from Pioche to Panaca and connect to the Pioche line. Salt Lake Route and Western Union supervisors toured the Pioche Caliente right of way to Panaca, aiming for a dependable line when needed. S. W. Vance, a Pioche mining figure linked to Bristol Pioche, leaves for Yellowstone Park for several weeks. Oil strikes at Virgin City draw Pioche interest as locals hold stakes there.
The Prince mine owned by Phoenix Reduction Company lies four miles from Pioche in a southeasterly direction and shows good shipping prospects. The shaft has reached 160 feet with ore present and development under way. Owners express confidence, calling it a bonanza.
H B Crawford of Blinn Robinson Lumber Co Los Angeles visits Pioche assessing a wholesale yard option. He notes Pioche’s potential post railroad completion and predicts competition with local shippers. freight costs should be similar, with best customer service driving choice.
Bristol Consolidated Company plans a tramway from the mines to near Jackrabbit to connect with the railroad. The Fortuna mine, under Bamberger Exploration, is a copper property with rich ore blocked out. Chas Fernandez Jos Vietti and F R McNamee secured the lease. locals trip for hunting and travel to Lake Valley noted.
M D Mapes displayed high quality rock from his Bristol District property. He owns six claims with recent assessment work complete. The vein shows at shallow depth with immense formation. Rock rich in lead and silver with average assay over 101 dollars. Mapes invites attention to his property and its merit. N J Wadsworth of Panaca secures contract for 1000 cords of wood for Nevada Utah Corporation with eight choppers at work.
