Opening day enrollment in Perrysburg public schools breaks prior records with nearly 100 more pupils than last term. First month total reaches 452 and is expected to rise by 100 by month end. Miss Helen Tappan resigns from the high school staff and Chester Handly of Lateha is hired to replace her and to serve as athletic coach.

Aviator Blanchard Once Perrysburg Boy

Francis Blanchard the famed aviator who flew daily at the Wood County Fair in Bowling Green last week and performed feats at St Meigs celebration is described as a Perrysburg boy. He was grandson of Ignatius Buff owner of Buff's park and spent years living with his grandfather in Perrysburg.

Perrysburg Saengerbund Incorporation And 1868 Dedication

In spring 1868 Perrysburg Ohio incorporated the Perrysburg Saengerbund to grow and own a building for rehearsals. Officers included Rheinfrank as president and Bader as vice president, with a six member board and several named trustees. They opened a social member option, bought Locust Locust street corner lots, and on July 4 1868 dedicated their house amid a Fourth of July celebration with races and fireworks attracting a large town crowd. The community hosted many visiting singing societies and festive dances continued at the new home with polkas and schottishers common.

Paralysis Stroke Fatal for Mrs Ida Marrington Speaker

Mrs Ida Marrington Speaker aged 44 years and 11 days died Monday at 4 AM from a stroke of paralysis at the home of Mr and Mrs Fennerney on Indiana Avenue Perrysburg Funeral services were held at St Rose church Tuesday morning and burial moved to Ecorse Michigan.

Free OSU agriculture scholarship offered by Wood County farm bureau

The Wood County farm bureau will award a three year agriculture scholarship at Ohio State University. Forenoon session featured devotional exercises led by Rev. Louis Minimum and remarks by Howard Winters on education. Miss Bana Rossford, Ohio won a kindergarten exhibition prize. Fort Meigs Victory Celebration Draws Largest Crowd Since 1840

The Fort Meigs Victory celebration, under the Maumee Valley Pioneer and Historical association, featured a military pageant, six war symbolism, field gun firings, and aerobatic displays by five planes. Distinguished guests included Captain Raymond C. Leslie and Lieutenants Robert M. Watts and Norman E. Haseau, honored with the French Croix de Guerre. The crowd, from nearby counties, marked the event as the largest since 1840 with family reunions and new museum society memberships.

Street Fair Aims For Week Long Perrysburg Event

The Free Street Fair in Perrysburg opens with the Merry-Go-Round and Indian Medicine Man drawing crowds. Firemen host prizes for displays from local businesses on Louisiana Avenue with judging Friday evening. Street dances will be held each Thursday Friday and Saturday nights inviting community participation. Reverend BE Webster of Toledo visited Perrysburg friends Tuesday.
