Funny story of a broken window incident at Jerry City

Deputy Sheriff Davenport tells of a night in Jerry City when a building owner sought action after windows were broken. Davenport advised affidavits and a quick return to identify suspects. On his return the owner had settled the bill, leaving the alleged culprits unprosecuted and the case unresolved.

Miss Callie Shugar Dies After Illness at 27

After six months of illness Miss Callie Shugar daughter of the late John and Clara Shugar of Maumee died at 7 20 Friday evening at the home of her sister Mrs William McBain Jr 2482 Putnam street Toledo Stomach trouble caused the death She was 27 born in Maumee and lived there until her mother died ten years ago She is survived by two sisters Mrs McBain and Mrs Ed McCutchan of Maumee and one brother Mr John Shugar of Toledo Nelson Shugar of Maumee died a month ago Saturday Funeral was Monday at 9 am at St Josephs church Maumee Interment in St Josephs cemetery where her parents are buried

Douglass Farm Seeks Sale of 400 Acre Lot Parcels

The Douglass farm of over 400 acres in Lake township Wood county is being subdivided into 2 to 14 acre lots along the Lake Shore electric line. Nearly half are sold to Toledo parties for residential use with country and city advantages. Died at Toledo Wood county matron Laura Rockwood passes

Mrs Laura A Rockwood aged 89 native of Vermont died Saturday morning at the To ledo home of Mrs W H Buvinger after a six week illness begun during a visit to Bowling Green kin. Interment was at Oak Grove after services at Judge G Rockwood s Bowling Green home. Her husband Giles Rockwood settled in Wood county in 1864 on Sand Ridge near Carr school in Plain township. She left a daughter Mrs G C Nearing and two sons Hoyt and another who died in infancy.

Longest Bridge Details by Toledo Blade on Lima & Toledo Traction

The Toledo Blade notes on a new Lima and Toledo traction bridge over the Maumee at Waterville. It required 400000 feet of lumber for forms and 800 piles twenty five feet long. Expansion joints at each pier prevent contraction from tearing the structure apart. The total weight upon completion is 28000 tons, with 16000 tons concrete and steel and 8000 tons earth forming a suspended shell above arches. Drainage near expansion joints handles rainwater.
