Election Returns announces free access to complete nationwide reports Tuesday night. The Journal Office will host full authentic bulletins from all sections of the United States, provided by Central Union telephony, inviting the public to read all night.
A Thursday gathering in Haskins featured Congressman J. H. Southard and J. O. Troup addressing a crowd. Local marching clubs paraded, but admission was limited. the speakers delivered strong, well received talks, making the event a political showpiece for the town.
John William Phillips was born in Cayuga County New York October 10 1816 and died October 27 1900 at age 84. He was a pioneer of Wood County hay log living most of 66 years on a farm at Scotch Ridge and left two sons and one daughter all married. Funeral services were held Monday by Rev. A P Johnson with interment at Scotch Ridge Cemetery.

Also notes a St Rose of Lima church bazaar and a social gathering for Agnes Schwind's friends with a spelling contest and party.

Sunday October 28 the Spilker family held a reunion at the Spilker homestead in Kirkman Iowa. Attending were Grandmother Spilker Thomas Spilker and family Christian Spilker William Spilker Benj Spilker Edward Spilker and wife John Henry Charles and Florence Spilker Mr and Mrs Luabben and family and Mies Clara Spilker of Toledo. Twenty four Hying. The gathering honored guest Thomas Spiller of Kirkman Ions and an elegant banquet followed. It was a most enjoyable occasion remembered with pleasure by all present.
