Need a New School at Walbridge in County

Walbridge in the northern part of the county may erect a new 10000 dollar four room school building to replace the current two room structure. Plans press for the project as pupil numbers grow and a vote on the proposition is expected next month.

Seven Survive From Company H 21st O V I

The death of Chris Goody of Ton togany is noted. Only seven of the original 86 men who entered service as Co. H, 21st O. V. I. remain. The seven are Silas S. Daish, Jonas Daish, William Barber, Rawson Skinner, Isaac Van Valkenberg, Hiram Henderson, and Reuben Van Tassel. They were mustered out July 26, 1865, about half of the company taft.

Mrs Almira Colby longtime Maumee valley resident died at about 95 funeral held in Defiance. Born in Maumee she married Dr Colby early Maumee physicians rode long distances in his practice from Toledo to Ft Wayne. Her later years were spent in Indianapolis with a daughter. She left sons in Birmingham and Houston.

Oldest Living Members of Early Lodges Recall Fifty Year Ties

William Crook shares memories of long membership in Fort Meigs Lodge I. C. O. F. and Phoenix Lodge No. 128 F and A. M. He joined Odd Fellowship on February 12, 1856 and Masonry on February 18, 1857, marking fifty years in both bodies. He is the only living member of the old lodge and served as Worshipful Master for twelve years.
