Perrysburg defeats Monroe in one sided baseball clash

Perrysburg downed Monroe 16 to 0 Sunday as the home squad showed sharp batting and strong defense. Welch’s pitches limited Monroe to few hits while Statler homered and the Perrysburg defense sparkled.

Perrysburg Grange Wins First Prize at Rally Day

The Perrysburg Grange earned the first prize flag at the Northwestern Ohio and Michigan Rally Day in Napoleon on June 20. Since forming in March with Frank Pax as worthy master the group has grown to 120 members, many driving 108 G1 machines. They toured Napoleon with flags and banners, enjoyed a social picnic dinner, and heard State Masters Taher and Ketcham discuss food production's role in the war. Burglars used chloroform to rob Elmer Meeks’s Portage home, taking $450 while Mrs Meeks and children slept after a late night.

Fort Meigs Grange Plans Fourth of July Picnic

Old Fort Meigs at Perrysburg hosts a Grange picnic for Fort Meigs Grange Wood and Lucas County Granges with many counties invited. A parade from the public schoolhouse at 1030 a.m. leads to the fort for a picnic and program featuring music and speakers, including Hon. George Aldrich and Hon. William Cresswell. Sunday Schools also unite Perrysburg for a joint Fourth of July celebration at the fort.

Wood County Fair Hard Racing Expected Big Turnout

The Wood County fair plans a larger racing event with 39 horses entered in the 2:19 trot stake on opening day 29 in the 2:30 pace stake midweek and fast entries for Thursday pace and 2:15 trot on closing day September 11 to 14. Purses of 500 and 1000 dollars are offered.
