Decoration Day Observed by Veterans at Perrysburg

Cold weather did not deter veterans from Perrysburg as they gathered for decoration day services. A procession to cemeteries featured a school children band and flowers on graves, followed by an afternoon town hall program with Rev BE Webster’s address. Memorial sermons at St Rose de Lima drew veterans and citizens alike.

Appointment of Charles Patterson as Treasurer

The county commission filled the vacancy created by Treasurer Fowler’s death by unanimously electing Charles Patterson, longtime deputy treasurer, to serve as treasurer. Jacob Keller, born in Baden Germany in 1842, died of heart trouble at the East Side grain elevator in Toledo after a long service in Perrysburg and in the Civil War. His funeral was led by Rev. B. J. Webster of the M B church.

Alumni Reunion Keeps Perrysburg High School Ties

About 125 graduates gathered last Friday for the Perrysburg High School Alumni Association reunion. Supt. Haylor chaired. readings celebrated the 1866 class and the class of 1910, with music by a Toledo orchestra and light refreshments. The event was praised as well planned and worth continuing, with plans to gather current addresses of living graduates for future homecomings.

Death of Marcus M Powler Bowling Green treasurer

Marcus M Powler longtime Wood county treasurer died at home in Bowling Green on May 26 after brain hemorrhage. Born October 25 1858 he was elected as a Democrat in 1908 and leaves a widow and seven children. He was a member of M B church Munsonie Odd Fellows and K P orders. Funeral was held in Bradner with large turnout and escorts from courthouse and orders. Ohio corn yield contest invites farmers to enter

The State Board of Agriculture announces Uberal prizes for the largest corn yield per acre in Ohio for 1910. Entries close August 20 with husking between November 1 and 15.
