Walbridge residents formed a five hour bucket brigade in freezing weather to save the village after an incendiary fire began at 1 30 Tuesday morning. Two central buildings owned by N A McAllister were destroyed, a two story frame house owned by C W Rhodes narrowly saved by the team effort.

Mrs Charles Walker died Friday night after gallstone surgery. Aged 39, she lived west of the Bend, north of Bowling Green. A Short History of St Rose Cemetery
The Cemetery of St Roses Parish was bought in 1872 under Rev. Charles Griss who first led the parish and helped lay out the burial ground. Geo Kirk surveyed lots in 1880 and three reference plats exist in the vault church and parsonage. A massive stone vault was built in 1890, with veterans from the Mexican and Civil wars buried there.
