The Maumee Valley Pioneer and Historical Association met at Memorial Hall Toledo Ohio on Thursday February 22 at 10 am. President D K Hollenbeck Perrysburg led a business session with secretary and treasurer reports trustees elected and dues paid. The program included singing by Tonian Male Quartet and short addresses by Rev N B C Love Rev St D Hollington and Mr J Kent Hamilton.
Obituaries detail Miss Margaret W. Fraser died Feb 17 1906 after four days of illness from a stroke. Born Renton Scotland Nov 2 1892 she had lived with Mrs I A Wetmore and family. Funeral at Capt F A Wetmore’s home Feb 20 conducted by Rev George H Lowry. Also Elizabeth Kreps died Feb 17 1906 at John Yeager's home Canton born 1818. married 1848. survived by six children, 16 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. Funeral Feb 20 at John Yeager’s with Revs Matthews and Sowers officiating. Both notices note long health struggles and family ties in Perrysburg area.
Chester Henning a 54 year old Milton township farmer shot himself on Saturday after years of consumption illness leaving four children ages eight to fourteen and a wife who died three years earlier. He penned letters to would be administrator pallbearers and undertaker and noted five grains of morphine if the revolver failed. He sent the children from the house, then killed himself, leaving about 40 acres of land and some money in the bank.
The Experiment Station reports many foreign seeds in clover and alfalfa seed, including dodders and weeds like plantains and wild mustard. Ohio has seen at least a dozen new weeds in alfalfa seed over eight years, with dangers from cheap seeds and mixed weed content. The 1905 tax duplicate totaled 3407 466 85 with $488 696 80 collected, leaving $102 770 06 to be collected in June. Distributions include state sinking fund 2 007 68 university fund 3 307 01 common school fund 16 443 58 and Wood county expenses 89 90. The state will return all but 3 520 27 to the county, with Wood county receiving 12 222 83 of school funds and 5 189 75 in interest from school funds, totaling 17 418 60. County-purpose funds total 29 219 08 across five funds while poor 3 005 18, bridge 10 143 88, building 3 042 36, indigent soldiers 3 800 and stone road repair 3 442 52. Township road 11 729 97 and stone road ditch funds 71 ATAT3. Township funds total 105 478 97 school funds 111 124 63 and cities/villages 59 047 06. Special taxes 16 861 77 and dog fund 1 970 93. Total distributions amount to 480 903 98.

Miss Mable Kopp stayed with Chas Schaller and wife. Mrs Margret Ludwig of Toledo visited her niece Miss Danner. A large Feb 17 gathering at Miss Danner’s home included numerous locals and visitors from St. Louis Toledo and surrounding. They danced played cards and enjoyed a late lunch.
