Henry Kiel a Weston grocer and longtime Wood county figure died Friday shortly after six o clock His wife and relatives were at the bedside Funeral services were held Monday at one Kiel born in Hanover Germany in 1844 came to America at age nine and settled first in Pemberville Later moved to Weston where he ran mercantile business and a Ton Togany grist mill He married Wilmina Hartman and the couple adopted ten children who grew to prominence in local life Surviving include his wife and seven adoptive children two brothers Fred Kiel of Toledo and Herman Kiel of this place Civil War service and a reputation as a scrupulous valued citizen marked his life The local community mourns the loss of a trusted business leader and devoted father

A large Perrysburg audience attended the Thursday debut of Reuben Rodney at the town hall, repeated Friday, and performed again Saturday. The amateur cast earned praise with Fr. Bowers as Uncle Rube drawing acclaim similar to a future Booth. Alf Hecker and Deacon Smalley received special notice for their strong character work, and the ensemble including Henry Thornton, Joe Myers, Bert Honner, Will Heckler, Jim Scott, Ben Norton, Esther Thompson, Mrs. M. B. Cook, and Zella Gunder delivered convincing roles. The Woodman lodge troupe plans to tour nearby towns, and proceeds will fund a new uniform-rank outfit.

Laymen's Convention Planned in Wood County in March
Wood County lays groundwork for a Laymen's Missionary Movement Convention to be held March 16 in Bowling Green. The Wood County Cooperating Committee reorganized with Frank W. Harold present, electing D. W. Pugh as chair and naming officers and subcommittees to handle deputation, banquets, finance, publicity, pastors, statistics and program. All churches in Wood are urged to participate and delegates may be sent. headquarters will be at the Bowling Green Y M C A for information.

Enoch Arden’s Wife Mourns Him After Mexican Jail Ordeal
Holland Smith once from Bloomdale and another man known as Smith traveled from Denver to a Mexican mining town. A train wreck led to his jail without a hearing, with months of detention until U S intervention freed him. The other Smith died, leaving his wife to mourn a presumed death. He now anticipates leaving Mexico to join her in the spring.

Thomas Rowe longtime resident of Latcha Wood county died in Cleveland at his son A W Rowes home on February at age 76. He was born January 8 1835 in Cornwall England and came to the United States in 1869. He leaves nine children including A W Rowe Bert Rowe John Rowe Mrs John Latham Mrs T L Wright Mrs Joseph Ludwick Mrs M L Bamer Mrs L Davis and Carrie Rowe. Burial was at Woodville cemetery.

Close call for Bowling Green grocer amid trolley wire incident
Frank Coen, a Bowling Green grocer, narrowly escaped electrocution Friday morning when a trolley wire broke near Jefferson and Superior streets in Toledo. The wire struck the ground with a rifle-shot crash and was later rendered harmless by an automatic switch failure in the power house. Also in the issue a note praises Chamberlain's Cough Remedy for persistent coughs and cites its reported success after other treatments failed, sold by P. Champney.
