In Lime City on January thirty first about 14 couples gathered at a home for an evening of entertainment. One guest, Tanne Whitson, became momentarily paralyzed upon returning home around 8 30 PM after the gathering, then recovered. Frank Rider was the featured storyteller. other attendees included John Bench and wife E A Cox and wife A J Brownaberger and wife, EE H Hitchcock and wife, D Simmons and wife, Jno Guiner and wife, W A Mandell and wife, T H Tinney and wife, Casper Horn and wife Hasel Hamilton and wife Fred and Alicea Mandell, Emma Crepa, Nelle Hamilton, Carry Brown, Mins Wight of Perrysburg. The Lime City people enjoyed themselves. C F Davis of Bloomfield Iowa recommended Chamberlain's Cough Remedy for colds and croup.
In Holland a small town with three stores a post office and a meat market two churches led by Rev. Wagoner and ongoing temperance meetings. Ladhen Aid Society socials for the youth, Geo Holloway buys a piano for his daughter Hellen, Sim Lees risks losing a hand from shelling corn. Mrs Ed Burns and Dora Bransch ill with measles, Gypsonburg visitations noted, new store and dancing hall planned for Holland in spring.
J M Haskins and wife of Auburn dale spent Sunday with Wm Garrett. Willie Wilson visits Mrs J Bash of Ducat. Pred Hale reports his singing class at Union Hill growing with over thirty scholars. Gurd Rodarmel uses his key rack as a bobSled. Thirteen converts baptized at Baptist church Sunday night. Old folks enjoyed themselves at Clark Keeler’s last Wednesday and Mrs M Wetmore’s Friday night. A seven hundred barrel well drilled on Marion Twinning’s place Friday. Hoagland No 1 completed Saturday and is a gas producer. Dour No 2 is a good gaser with little oil. Great North Bowling Green field discussed in Has kin corporation. A Mid dletown school house caught fire at 6 10 am. Geo Hofmann and Jon Shiple led the first responders breaking the door to rescue furniture, but the interior was engulfed in flame. Hard to save items. overheated stove suspected. Liburt Shiple and Jo? risked themselves entering the building built in 1876.
