Judge Henderson presides as Kenton case load rises with twenty two cases and forty seven witnesses. Indictments include assault, larceny, burglary, incest, and liquor offenses as jail inspection confirms a proper facility while legal moves and divorces unfold.
Willard Davis aged 19 of Bowling Green attempted to kill himself at his brother's home in Ton togany using a revolver pressed to his temple. The bullet glanced from a bone and lodged in his left jaw causing unconsciousness and severe jaw pain. Davis, previously frail from a serious fall, has lived under despondent mood while supporting his widowed mother and younger brother.
Water Works trustees report 1908 shows total receipts 2398.80 with end of year balance 333.87. Hydrants total 39, mains 11 560 ft, 7800 ft of 8 inch and smaller lines. 1908 pumped 24 278 630 gallons, average daily 66 516. Overall plant cost receipts 93 681.49 with disbursements 33 298.12 leaving balance 388.37.
Trustees of Center township accepted the resignation of Charles R. Nearing as Justice of the Peace after long service since 1895. F. A. Reid was appointed to fill the vacancy. Nearing earned the nickname marrying justice for officiating 702 weddings.
A Saturday teachers examination drew 72 examinees who appeared keen and capable. County teachers seek two and three year certificates, renewals exempting further exams, as law favors quicker certification. Mrs. Aaron Kiser died at home in Pemberville from burns after her apron caught fire while emptying an ash pan. She removed the burning apron but her dress also ignited. despite efforts by herself and her husband, she did not survive. The notice also promotes Chamberlain's Cough Remedy for cold related illnesses.
Margaret Brandon died after drinking carbolic acid in a shed condition at 8 55 am. Her sister Mary found her at 7 40 am, and doctors could not save her. Born in Cummingsville Wood county May 12 22 years ago she had lived in Bowling Green for years. Coroner D R Canfield held an inquest today.
Tuesday evening February 2 at the groom’s Toledo residence the marriage of Thos Chilcote and Mary Cochran of West Liberty was solemnized. The groom long ran a Prairie Depot furniture and undertaking business and now works in Toledo real estate. the bride has been employed in a Toledo millinery shop.
