Teachers Institute Breeding Fine Animals at Pemberville

The second quarterly Teachers Institute of Wood County will meet at Pemberville on Saturday February 8 1913. Morning session covers Invocation, music, a literary talk on the public schools criticism, and a fivefold course of study address by F B Pearson. Afternoon features history, recitations, and discussions on home study supervision and school exhibits. A note promotes the Lewis Manor Farm stock, praising Belgians Shires hunters and urging local farmers to buy, with Chamberlains Cough Remedy advertised at end.

Narrow Escape As Train Crushes Wagon Near Millbury

Robert Tiplady, a Millbury area farmer, escaped with no injuries when his wagon was struck by Sandusky accommodation train No 51 at a Lake Shore crossing west of town. Both horses were killed and the wagon demolished after he leaped away just before impact. Mrs A R Tabor of Crider Mo reports relief from a five year ago sick headache after using Chamberlains Tablets, two bottles said to cure stomach related headaches.

Partnership terms and defamation suits against Acklin

Frederick W. Colina sues Donald R. Acklin in two common pleas actions seeking dissolution of partnership and a receiver, claiming an agreement from March 1912 on stallions profits and English purchases. He also claims $15,000 damages for slander, alleging two counts of defamation and a statement to Colina’s wife causing nervous shock.

Wm Danniels files for divorce from Libbie Danniels citing three years of willful absence and gross neglect. Married Perrysburg June 26 1901, they have two children aged ten and six. He claims an agreement waives alimony and that Libbie left after departure and duties. Public notice mentions medical ads inserted within.

Pigs Have Rights Awarded Five Cents

Humane Officer Gangwer filed a warrant against Gust Kries of Winchell farm for neglecting pigs. Hogs lived in mud with frozen backs and a six to twelve inch mud bed. Kries pleaded guilty before Justice Plummer. fined five dollars plus costs totaling 10.75 dollars due to sale of farm and renter status. Judge Baldwin presided in the Findlay case on George H. Phelps v Ohio Oil Co Solar Refining Buckeye Pipe Line and Standard Oil. directed verdict of nominal damages five cents for Phelps. costs charged to defendants. Phelps claimed anticompetitive conduct harmed his oil leases.

Death of John Bench in Perrysburg Township

John Bench prominent Perrysburg Township farmer died at his Oregon road home near Hobart after a long cancer illness at age 57 years 5 months 26 days. Survived by wife Julia daughter Lottie and sons William Edward four grandchildren and one brother of Swanton. Funeral at Lime City church conducted by Rev J Born with interment at Ft Meigs cemetery Perrysburg.

School Notes from Pemberville Second Quarterly Institute

The Teachers' Second Quarterly Institute will be held at Pemberville on Saturday February 8. A very interesting program has been prepared and a large attendance is hoped for. The Seniors had their final exam in American History on Monday afternoon. On Tuesday the Agriculture class took their final assessment. Vincent Wilson has returned to the eighth grade after several weeks absence. In history the eighth grade is drawing maps and tracing the campaigns of 1863. Thelma Honner is absent from the fifth grade due to sickness. Josephine Curtis has returned to the fifth grade after a two week absence.
