Four Fifths of County Paved Roads in Question
Auditor Ralph Gillespie estimates that if all petitioned roads are built Wood county would have little more than 100 miles of unpiked road. Currently about 1200 miles of pike exist and seventy petitions cover about 200 miles of remaining roads. Nearly four fifths of roads may be improved yet half are in abominable condition reflecting poor stone road building management in Wood county.

Council Proceeds on Walnut Street Improvements
The regular meeting was attended by the mayor, clerk, and all councilmen. An approved project will excavate Walnut street from Third street to Indiana Ave for a 12 foot roadway, filled with river gravel. Crossings at Second and Pine, and Walnut and Sixth, will be filled with cinders to allow navigation. An arc light at Walnut and Sixth was authorized per lighting ordinance.
