John Croft's Misfortune at Hudson Fire Destroys Goods

Friends regret to report John Croft Jr suffered a total loss of household goods in a Hudson Michigan fire before his family could join him. The Crofts had moved preparations underway when the blaze consumed the home where the goods were stored and no insurance was available. Mrs Croft and the infant were visiting Perrysburg at the time.

Coroners Report of Wood County Death Causes 1906

The coroner's annual summary lists causes of death for the year ending December 31 1906 including shooting hanging carbolic acid gutting throat with razor inhaling natural gas and other natural causes such as heart disease apoplexy paralysis and dullumpary hemorrhages asphyxiation by gas suffocation in bed infant accidental drowning run over by wagon killed by lightning and auto crash with counts of inquests by gender and race all white male and female totals noted.

The senate approved a pension plan for Civil War veterans aged 62 plus. Rates start at 12 dollars per month for 62 plus, 15 dollars for 65 plus, and 20 dollars for 70 plus, with automatic increases as veterans age.

A forenoon blast near Selicia, near Sylvania, caused building shakes and a crowd at the river. Reports say a large quantity of dynamite exploded at a glass sand quarry, injuring one man slightly.
