The ladies of the Presbyterian church announce their annual bazaar at the Town Hall on Thursday and Friday evenings December 14 and 15. A large display of fancy work and Christmas gifts will be offered and refreshments served. Admission is 16 cents, including supper from 5 o clock onward.
R. W. Fenstemaker of Lima, a H. & D. brakeman, fell from a top car at Tontogany Thursday evening when a water-recoupling train jolted. The impact threw him between the car and engine, and he died instantly.
Fenstemaker, 22, unmarried, died instantly between wheels and tender. Byron Phillips of Tontogany died after a short illness at his home. Born in 1827 in New York state, he served as postmaster in Tontogany for years before resigning due to ill health. A prominent G A R member, Phillips spent nearly a year in Confederate prisons during the Civil War.
The Duhammel family expresses heartfelt thanks to neighbors and friends for kindness shown during the death and funeral of Mrs. J. Duhammel. Special appreciation is extended to the Dowling choir Rey Matthews and the G ALT group for support.

A stockholders meeting in Findlay approved a lease of Toledo Bowling Green Southern Traction property to Toledo Urban and Interurban Railway. The lease starts January 1 with operations to Findlay in two hours, via a fast service. Director changes and Kerper to lead, Smith to run operations as roadbed and bridge completed.

Mary Leydorf, born in Perrysburg on May 26, 184, united with Nicob Arta in January 187. They had eight children, seven of whom preceded her in death. She died at Mercy Hospital Chicago on Tuesday December 6, 1M, and was brought back to Perrysburg for interment. She leaves her husband, eight children, a father, three brothers, and one sister, noted for traits that endeared her to all who knew her.
Reports from Weston indicate a potential oil boom as two new wells yield about one hundred barrels each. The field lacks a pipeline, but a line to the nearest main may be built if further tests show meaningful quantities. Previous wells produced but were abandoned as large gushers waned.

Wm Niety of Toledo spent Sunday with his parents, G Niet and wife. Mrs Geo Miller and Miss Carrie Miller called on Mrs John Swarts Sunday afternoon. John Pope of Line City called on friends Friday. Joe Smith of Lime City, home with his brother John Smith, will be guest of friends in Chicago during holidays. Ed Weseman and family called on Ben Snyder at Toledo Sunday. Jake Bannan of Toledo visiting.
Friday last Will Etter of Mau Mee while driving a horse hitched to a light wagon narrowly escaped injury as the fast mail train passed. The horse reared and slipped under the wheels, losing both hind legs above the ankles and had to be shot. The boy was frightened but uninjured.
Mothers are urged to watch for coughing colds croup and pertussis in children. The notice stresses early prevention and care and is attributed to Bowers & Comutack catering to health awareness.

Herbert Durfee a 17 year old from Minvi formerly of this place drowned last Thursday while skating on the Maumee river near the electric power dam. He fell through crumbling ice, called for help five times, and sank in seven feet of water. His body was recovered in about 45 minutes by two brothers with mayor Smith handling the formalities.
Grand jury members from Millbury Haskins North Baltimore and Perrysburg are named along with others from Tontogany LeMoyne and Clyde. Petit jurors include residents of LeMoyne Bowling Green Prairie Depot Weston and Millbury among others. The grand jury will meet Monday January 9 and the petit jury one week later. F W Borcherding has brought suit against the Webster township Telephone Co. and dimes Rogers.
A farmer objects to a telephone company stringing wires along the road in front of his farm. He warns $500 in damages if the wire damages his property and seeks a temporary injunction. He argues shallow soil would force blasting for poles and fears falling stones. Sentinel.
J M Drury submitted a fire protection proposition to Perrysburg council. It calls for a large water main from Front and Main to Fourth Street and from Third and Main to Wheel Factory, with hydrants for six lines and pumps from local firms to provide about 10 000 gallons per hour. Local businesses offered pumps and water tanks totaling 200 000 gallons to back the system, plus a watchman and a fire gong linked to the telephone exchange.
