Death of Mrs Gunn Ends Early Maumee Valley Life

Mrs Eliza Gunn widow of Warren B Gunn an early Maumee Valley resident died at home in Maumee after a sudden illness at age 84. She was born near Portage Wood county to H Martindale a descendant of General Martindale. The Perrysburg football team played a muddy draw with Fulton as rain and poor field conditions delayed kickoff and limited play.

Thanksgiving Remembrance From Grandparents Simmons

Mr and Mrs Joe Simmons hosted Thanksgiving at their home and sent thanks to Mrs P B Tyler of Dunbridge and Mr and Mrs R E Hale and daughter Irene of Paris Michigan. Ill health kept them from a planned turkey dinner at Mr and Mrs Andy Phillips but they gratefully remembered with a box of turkey cake fruit candy and dates and sent appreciation to the Phillips for their thoughtfulness.

Tragic Fatality Near Custar When Rig Struck By Electric Train

Lewis Schuster of Custar, age thirty, was instantly killed at Farnum's crossing two miles south of Custar when his rig was struck by a delayed southbound Ohio Electric limited car. The buggy was crushed, the horse unharmed, and Schuster suffered severe injuries. He had just returned from a night out with Lena Mans and died en route home. The article notes a family pattern of tragedy and recounts the motorman's account, with the incident occurring after dark on a line where freight trains were expected.
