Boiler Explosion Claims Farm Worker Bert Parkason
Bert Parkason died after a Saturday morning boiler explosion on J. W. Une derwool farm near Plain. The crash tore the engine apart and fatally injured Parkason who was 41, leaving a wife Minnie Downs and several surviving relatives. He had been threshing for William Apel and was severely injured before his death.

Slick horse thief lures Perrysburg men with borrowed team
A con man calling himself Robinson from Bowling Green rented a horse and buggy in Perrysburg, then vanished after arranging a new team for a trip into the country. Ed Underhill tracked the stolen horse to Toledo, where one animal was found with McGittigan and the other left at Crescent livery. Police recovered the horse, while other frauds included piano installments, rugs, furniture, and kitchen hardware bought on credit. The suspect’s whereabouts remain unknown, and justice awaits his discovery.

Beefs and Bucks At Perrysburg Labor Day Butchering Contest
On Labor Day September 2 at 4 30 pm at Perrysburg Ball Park a beef butchering contest will occur. Jos LaFleur and rival B G Hoffman both put up 5000 with helpers. They previously met at Cedar Point before about 20 000 spectators and LaFleur won. About a quarter hour after the baseball game Munger Bees will supply cattle for the contest. Grandstand tickets cost 25 cents and 20 percent of gate receipts go to the baseball team.
