The City Hospital Trustees yesterday appointed Dr John W Murphy as laryngologist to succeed the late Dr Max Thornery on the staff. Murphy a Wesleyan Delaware and Miami Medical College graduate studied in Europe and Vienna and resides on Park Avenue Walnut Hills. The meeting retained most staff but replaced Dr C K Holmes and Dr S G Agro, while police and fire department officers sought free private ward treatment, a plan opposed by Dr John A Murphy.
Mr. McLean surveys Ohio outcomes as a victory for the people against the administration. He cites rising Democratic majorities, warns the White House against centralization, and praises independent Republicans for voting their conscience. The Supreme Court of Ohio rules in State of Ohio versus W. H. Halliday auditor of Franklin County that the office of county warden, created by section 409 Revised Statutes, cannot be filled by appointment under Article 10 Section 2 of the constitution. The syllabus states the county warden position is not appointive.
