Mob Hangs Abe Witherup After Jail Entrance
A mob of about 100 men seized Abe Witherup from the jail, dragged him to a bridge north of town, and hanged him after he confessed to killing William Grow last month. Grow’s brother helped tie the rope and push the mob man to his death. Witherup died instantly. The mob then dispersed quietly.

Lord Pauncefote Dead After State Funeral Arrangements
Washington May 20. Arrangements for the funeral of Lord Pauncefote the British ambassador who died Saturday morning are completed. Lady Pauncefo te approved the plans for Wednesday services at noon at St Johns Episcopal Church. The body will be deposited in Rock Creek cemetery vault. A war department escort will attend. Pauncefote 74 was a veteran diplomat who helped negotiate the arbitration treaty with Secretary Olney and aided in drafting the Mayflower treaty. Meanwhile in Atlanta Millard Lee 20 shot and killed Lilla Suttle 19 at Wesley Chapel Campgrounds. Lee fled as worshipers stood in shock after the benediction.
