Eastern cities report severe floods with Paterson New Jersey overwhelmed after a recent fire. Hudson River overflow floods Albany and Harrisburg with trains delayed. Wheeling, Olean, Wilkesbarre face industrial and residential damage. Fire-destroyed J I Case warehouse in Fargo adds to losses.
A major fire in Zanesville Ohio engulfed the J B Owens Pottery plant destroying the works and warehouses, causing about 100000 dollars in losses and leaving around four hundred workers out of work. The plant will be rebuilt at once and insurance coverage was approximately one tenth of the loss.
A former stance on the balance of trade argues that export excess does not imply national wealth. corrections to figures show import costs and freight alter the apparent surplus, with Webster cited to illustrate that a favorable balance can mislead when capital returns are not net gains for the country.

Obwero March 5 Mrs Cary Kearney was arrested on charges of aiding prisoners in the county jail plot. It is alleged she supplied a pistol to Will Geary a burglar jailed awaiting trial and Dr G A Calhoun who faces a penitentiary sentence for his wife murder. She was sent to the county jail in default of bond which she refused to post.
The Massachusetts House adopted an order inviting General Fitzhugh Lee to attend the session next Friday. He is to speak at Tremont Temple that evening as the Burgt of the Minute Men.
Havana on March 5 reports General Bartolome Maso, once the Democratic party presidential candidate, rallying the public in Manganibo to back the new Reverniment and help construct Cuba’s new country during General Maximo Gomes’ visit.
An adjustment of differences in the moulding and polishing departments at the National Cash Register company of Dayton, Ohio, was concluded after a two day conference at the National Civic Federation headquarters. Participants included J. H. Patterson and four NCR officers, E. J. Lypeh of Metal Polishers and Brass Moulders, Samuel Gompers of the AFL, and Ralph M. Baslay of the National Civic Federation.
Washington March. The senate for the next year. The committee on appropriations added $315,525 to expenditures under consideration of the executive, as provided by the bill passed by the House. The total appropriation now stands at $25,490,196.
Toledo march 26 railroads of Ohio plan to obtain a new supreme court decision on charging fractional miles in ticketing. The high court recently ruled against the four railroads on fractional miles. The roads have refused to review rate sheets and will take the fight up again.
