Court Refuses NLRB Order Over Interstate Commerce Link

In Cincinnati on June 30 the U S Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the National Labor Relations Board lacked authority to issue orders affecting firms whose business does not directly involve interstate commerce. It dismissed the NLRB petition to require Fruehaus Trailer Co of Detroit to cease or desist actions against employees over union activity and ordered the order set aside.

Washington June 29 Officials said ten lawsuits seeking 6.483 million dollars in damages from the government over Postmaster General Farley 1934 airmail contract cancellations would not be acted on until the fall. The Post Office announced settlements of five other suits totaling 8.84 million dollars with payments of 6015 thousand and 396 thousand dollars in bonds.
