Richard Bennet a 75 year old recluse from Pennock Island was found dead in his cabin by deputy US marshal N O Hardy. The Ketchikan Alaska Chronicle says heart disease likely caused his death after he was last seen cutting firewood. Bennet was found in bed as if he had retired for the night.
The Associated Press notes the Fourth Division Democrats endorsed the federal administration and gave Governor Troy a vote of appreciation. They backed Delegate Dimond and territorial officers Auditor Frank A Boyle Attorney General James Truitt and Highway Engineer W A Hesse. Legislative candidates included Senator Joseph E Crosson and Reps Tom Lamore Louis A Smith Leo Rogge and Dan Green. Twenty one delegates and six divisional committee members were chosen.
Chicago dispatch reports Captain Eugene J. Carr in charge of 172 families moved to Matanuska Valley by relief directors notes extreme scarcities. He cites oversized spuds cabbages and peapods as evidence of rough pioneer days and praises settlers for building churches handling legal matters and creating comfortable homes through hard work.

Anchorage members of the American Legion traveled to Matanuska to install officers in the Territory s newest post, Matanuska Valley Post No 14, with 40 colonists. Neil Miller is commander of the ex-soldiers group. More than 400 colonists miners and others attended a celebratory dance as Sidney C Raynon of Anchorage senior vice commander of the Alaska department presided.
