Forgotten Fourth Man Called To Testify In Murder Trial

Windfall April? Legislation may reuse unspent education funds

Ohio lawmakers Norman A. Murdock and Gordon M. Scherer say at least 18 million dollars of unspent Department of Education allocations could be re appropriated for general education. Proposed distribution would be 200 dollars per classroom unit statewide, with passage tied to certainty funds will not be spent. The move follows calls for immediate study of state education funds and does not replace the Oak Hills mill levy.

Ass't Superintendent Resigns In Oak Hills

Walter E. Denecke resigns as assistant superintendent of Oak Hills School District, effective July 31 to become Deer Park High School principal. He helped launch DCT and COE programs, advised bond campaigns, and led Voc Ed and BOE initiatives during his Oak Hills tenure. He will commute from Kingoak Drive while remaining in Hamilton County.

Union President Attacks Board At Roberts Junior High

John Stevens president of the Cincinnati Federation of Teachers challenges the Board of Education at Roberts Junior High in Price Hill urging a new survey of teachers and equal rights for all teachers while disputing payroll withholding for union dues. The meeting drew about 50 attendees mainly teachers and administrators as Superintendent Paul Miller noted the upcoming national assessment results and criticized the program.

Delhi Hires Eighth Man For Police

Robert Roebel, 21, of 5323 Aivera Dr., is named Delhi’s new fulltime policeman to bring the department to eight officers. He starts June 1 after Trustee approval at the May 13 meeting. The board discussed safety department levy needs and planned June 4 talks with police and fire officials to set levy amounts.

Oak Hills Schools Committee outlines 11.7 mill operating levy details through a series of meetings May 20 to May 26. Events include Green Township Democratic Club at Cheviot Field House, Springmyer Elementary PTA dinner, Forest View social, Our Lady Of Victory areas, Oak Hills United Presbyterian Church address, district coffees, Delhi Township Park picnic, and multiple church and school gatherings with principals and PTA groups.
