Seven Families Lose Home In New Vienna Fire
A major apartment and restaurant building in New Vienna, owned by Mrs. Leo Dodd, burned Thursday night destroying the structure with an estimated loss of 15 000 to 20 000 dollars. Seven families with 21 residents occupied the two story brick building. Hillsboro, New Vienna, and Wilmington fire departments battled the blaze for hours aided by water from village wells and a Can ning Co. well. No fatalities reported, cause under investigation.

Martinsville Youth Dies After Motorcycle Crash
Dale E. Richardson 16 of Martinsville died from injuries after a motorcycle crash with a car near Lebanon and George Roads. He had moved from Martinsville to near Lynchburg and attended Lynchburg school. he was a junior at Martinsville High School until recently. Richardson is survived by his parents Homer and Eleanor and two brothers. Frank George 24 of Clarksville was injured. four passengers in the car also sustained injuries. He was born November 28 1983 in Clinton County. The death occurred Sunday night at Miami Valley Hospital Dayton.

Sheriff Gustin sustained 40 to 50 stitches to head and face after being struck by prisoner Russell Taylor 18. Taylor, held on probation from Lancaster reform school, attacked the sheriff on the second floor during evening meal duty. Sgt. Woolard aided. Daugherty injured wrist in the ensuing shakedown.

Martinsville Man Bound Over In Non Support Charge
Paul Smithson of Martinsville was bound over to a grand jury by Justice of the Peace Dave Boothby in Hillsboro on non support charges and placed under 500 bond. He is jailed for failure to post bond. Smithson and Dwight Elliott were arrested in Greenfield on a worthless check charge. Gregg and Smithson both cleared Hillsboro checks by restitution.

Highland Woman Emma Hartley Dies at 79
Funeral services were held for Mrs. Emma L. Hartley 79 wife of Charles Hartley of Highland at the Highland Methodist Church. She died at her son Harold Hartley home after a month long illness. Born July 8 1871 she lived in Highland 37 years and was a member of the Highland Methodist Church. Rev B E Wright and Rev Thoburn Enge officiated with interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Sue Rose Zimmerman of Highland R D daughter of Lester and Mrs Zimmerman achieved a No 1 superior rating at the Southwestern District Music Auditions in Miami University last Saturday.
