In a Friday night contest at the Xenia Field House Eaton defeated New Vienna 48 to 29 as New Vienna struggled to connect from the field. Neff and Johnson led Eaton with 14 and 13 points while Carey Huffman and Turner each scored seven for New Vienna. Eaton won the district crown over Monroe Township and will meet Enon in Springfield for regionals. Andy Cluxton of New Vienna was named to the all tournament first team.

The New Vienna Junior High boys won third place by beating Wayne 25 to 18 in the consolation game last Friday. Blanchester captured the tournament title for the second year in a row with a 41 to 13 win over Sabina. New Vienna had reached the semis by defeating New Antioch 23 to 14 on Thursday, then fell to Sabina 20 to 15 Friday afternoon.

The New Vienna American Legion voted to send a junior from New Vienna High School to Buckeye Boy's State. The selection will honor Scholastic standing and interest in government. The group also approved paying for food at the athletic banquet honoring high school athletes cheerleaders and the coach with fifteen members present.

Fire damages Stethem home in Mt Olive neighborhood
A Saturday afternoon blaze at the Ada Stethem residence in Mt Olive caused minor damages after a coal oil explosion in the kitchen. Henry Stethem and Hubert Thorman were present. Thorman sustained burns to hands and legs. Several kitchen items were ruined while losses were fully covered by insurance.

Thorne Store in Wilmington Sold to Heer and Kauth
H. H. Thorne has sold the Thorne store in Wilmington to Mr. and Mrs. Albert C. Heer of East Liverpool and William J. Kauth of Uniontown Pennsylvania. Thorne has run the store since buying it in November 1928 from George Steen. The New Vienna branch remains with Thorne, managed by Mrs. Marie Simkins.
