Larry L Rhonemus son of Mr and Mrs George E Rhone mus Martinsville R F D 1 Martinsville has earned a Sears Roebuck scholarship at Ohio State University College of Agriculture. The award provides 200 for the school year to help offset college expenses. Rhonemus, a Martinsville High School graduate, ranked in the top quarter of his class and participated in basketball band orchestra chorus 4 H Club Junior Fair Grange and church groups. He will enroll in the OSU College of Agriculture this autumn.

Masons To Hold Picnic At Sabina Camp Grounds

Local Men Reach Plowing Contest Standings Near Hillsboro
Bob Linkhart of New Vienna R D 1 took second in the Meyers Farm plowing event east of Hillsboro riding a Case tractor. Melvin Hollingsworth and Donald McKamey, both New Vienna, placed seventh and ninth respectively. Edwin Swearingen of Fayetteville R D 1 won first and will enter the state Urbana contest September 12-13, as more than 2000 people watched the plowing and terracing demonstration.

Leesburg Horse Show Draws 100 Entries and Large Crowd
The Leesburg Bar-None Riding Club's sixth annual show drew over 100 horses and about a thousand spectators. Judge Fred Sharp of Franklin Indiana presided as winners were crowned across 20 classes including Five-Gaited and Pony divisions with numerous local riders and ring masters Cliff Lieurance and Bob Barrett.

Two Die In Wreck At Morrisville
A bus and car collision on Green Road between Martinsville and Morrisville Friday at 6 17 P M left two dead and eight injured. Dale Turner of Martinsville died at the scene, Elbert Cook of Wilmington died en route to hospital. Injured passengers were treated at Highlands Community Hospital and by local doctors. State Patrol investigated and Turner funeral held in Martinsville with burial in IOOF cemetery.

Roger Ames of New Vienna won Junior Champion heifer and Junior Champion bull in the 4H and open classes amid about 100 animals. He also placed 2nd in Jr Heifer Calf, 4th in Jr Yearling, and 11th in Sr Yearling. Townships Agree Fire Protection Contract in Fayette County
Penn and Concord Townships in Fayette County sign a fire protection agreement with Fairfield Township on Tuesday night. Fairfield recently got a new fire truck and gear. Eugene Guthrie serves as fire chief and Harry Haig III of Wilmington is hired to train firefighters at a cost of 75 dollars with half funded by the state and half by the township.
