Narrow Escape Aboard Eveline in Pacific Storm
In fall 1915 Samuel Douglas owner of the Eveline fished for xahoes after packing ended. Crossing Miatte Bay toward Cape Chacon the engine flooded with water and the boat took on water. Crew battled rough seas and backwash as they struggled to reach safety and restarted the engine.

The Queen, a 15 ton gas boat owned by George and Gilbert Charles, built in Seattle by S E Warner for 3500 dollars, powered by a 30 HP Union engine, averages 7 mph. Crew last summer included George Charles Gilbert Charles Henry Logan and Joseph Morse. They fished for Southern Alaska Canning Co from July 22 to Sept 27, producing 200 Kohos 400 Sockeyes 6000 Dog Salmon 32000 Humpbacks.
