Helena musician Richard Starr found dead in Missouri River
Richard Starr, 31, director of the Helena Symphony Orchestra, was found submerged in 40 to 55 feet of water after his car left the road near the Devil's Elbow curve northeast of Helena. Fromberg Man Dies in Billings Hospital Crash
Fred Steffan, 66, Fromberg, died in a Billings hospital from injuries from a one car crash east of Edgar on the Edgar Pryor road. Highway Patrol said the gravel road vehicle went off the side and overturned. His death marked the 62nd highway fatality of the year in Montana, compared with 63 on May 9 last year.

Walkerville Alderman and former legislator Jerry Harrington dies
Jerry J. Harrington an alderman of Walkerville and former Montana state legislator died in a local hospital. Requiem Mass will be held at St. Lawrence O Toole Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. He came from Michigan as a child and celebrated 56 years of marriage. He served as secretary of the Blacksmiths Union, deputy sheriff under Al McLeod, and bailiff under W M Murray, retiring in 1966. He served three terms in the state legislature for Silver Bow County and was a charter member of the Eagles. Survivors include his wife Theresa, daughter Verda of Butte, son Walter E Harrington of Seattle, eight grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

County Commissioner Earl J. Holman plans to secure his two story brick building at 906 W Park in safe condition amid a district court case prompted by state fire marshal William A. Pentula. Pentula ordered repairs by June 2 to prevent trespass and fire risk while Holman says arson by a juvenile caused past damage and vows to guard against trespass despite repeated vandalism. He believes the building can be fixed and made habitable though insurance indemnity remains unsettled.
