Washington reports a conference committee restored the dollar devaluation provision to the administration bill after a coalition fight. The measure reduces domestic silver price to 70 cents and removes a prohibition on future foreign silver purchases. The act must pass by midnight to save the 2 billion dollar exchange stabilization fund.
Britain warned Germany of forceful action if aggression continued, with Foreign Secretary Lord Halifax insisting military force could stop Nazi moves. Reports circulated that Nazi reserves were mobilized for possible action in Danzig while German spokesmen denied troop presence. Paris sources cited Bonnet briefing and German denial amid a deepening European crisis.
Negotiators from the Senate and House reached agreement on a relief bill totaling about 1.7 billion dollars for the 1939-40 fiscal year. The WPA announced a shutdown of all projects from July 1 to July 4 due to uncertainties surrounding the relief appropriation, with about 2,500 workers affected.

The jubilee show Bullion, Bandits and Builders will open a four day run tomorrow at 8 30 p.m. at the Butte high school stadium. The Chamber of Commerce office will stay open 9 to 6 today and tomorrow evenings 7 to 9 to sell tickets or exchange advance tickets. Headquarters will be open all day Sunday and July Fourth for public convenience. An army of 60 cashiers and ushers will handle crowds.
A brilliant exhibit at the 61st Montana State Medical association convention features modern medicine triumphs. It highlights radium and x ray treated carcinoma, TB control methods, eye operations, fracture treatment, and other medical work. The display is on Finlen hotel mezzanine, drawing wide physician attention.
Butte hosts the Montana State Medical Association closing events with group hospitalizing as the main topic. Speakers include A G StacL Nicotte Clinic Minneapolis and AMA president Dr Rock Sleyster, who oppose state medicine. The meeting highlights papers by Washington University surgeons and noted clinicians.
Butte gears up for the Treasure State Jubilee starting tomorrow with 31 events over nine days. Highlights include a Street dance, an air show, a rodeo spectacle, mammoth parades, a mass concert by hundreds of young musicians, and an Old Man Gloom appearance. The entrants meet Sunday at 2 pm in the high school gym for instructions and judges are being selected.

The House after a 13 hour session postponed final vote on the neutrality revision bill. An arms embargo amendment failed by a teller vote of 159 to 157, signaling a setback for the administration. The measure would let Congress and the President declare war and remove limits on entering combat zones.
A June 29 forest fire at Hobart Mills, California, destroyed property valued at several hundred thousand dollars, burned five houses and several buildings, and crept into timber land. No injuries reported as about 100 forestry workers and CCC enrollees fought the flames.
On the eve of retirement General Malin Craig proposed creating five compact infantry artillery divisions to strike with rapidity against Western Hemisphere threats. They would seize or hold bases and destroy enemy positions, with four partial divisions already available and plans to expand to full strength plus a fifth.
Governor Roy Ayers announced immediate start of the Broadwater Missouri irrigation project after PWA released 135000 dollars toward a 900000 plan. Utah Construction of Ogden will build a dam and railroad relocation for 642000, while Douglas Genger of Fairfield will construct main canals for 138000. Completion targeted by June 30, 1940.
