In Lorient a passenger boat carrying about 100 workers was rammed from behind by another vessel and sank. Six dead and six injured officially reported. many feared more losses as divers and harbor crews searched 150 foot waters. Lifebelts saved most aboard. cause cited as trade rivalry between the vessels.
A lone bandit robbed M. K. Hanson at the Conoco station at Montana and Silver streets taking about 50 dollars from the cash register. Police and sheriff's officers searched the area and warned Anaconda authorities to watch for a young man in a brown suit and straw hat. Hanson identified the suspect as the same bandit linked to prior Paxson Rockefeller and other local holdups last fall and this spring.
Senator Wheeler reports a new 35 million dollar allotment after July 1 for the Fort Peck dam and reservoir in northeastern Montana. Funds will speed work, allow spillway and tunnel contracts, and aim for 8,000 workers by fall as President Roosevelt plans a visit.
President Roosevelt returned to the White House and vetoed 14 routine measures after Congress adjourned. He outlined veto reasons, announced a nationwide radio address for Thursday night, and prepared for his Annapolis to Hawaii cruise while reviewing new government commissions.
Delegates from several unions reported on strike votes but the Silver Bow Trades and Labor Council took no action. Some unions had already recorded sympathy votes urged by the miners and engineers' general strike committee, though results were not yet announced to members.
Helena June 26. Montana has a marine beer saloon a Missouri river steamer known as the City of Sanash operating between the Fort Peck dam site and the North Dakota Montana line. The license to sell beer aboard the craft was issued today by the state board of beer control.

A wind storm battered Butte yesterday morning, killing W. L. King, 67, a local carpenter, who was swept from a runway onto a gasoline storage tank and hurled to his death. The Waite Oil tank at the refinery on the Butte Anaconda highway was damaged as the storm, with 50 mph gusts, caused widespread property losses and near misses across the city.
Detroit June 26 Charles F. Kettering urged Rotary International delegates to outlaw the committee of five saying progress comes from stepping outside rules. He cited the Panama Canal example showing advancement via scientific insight over prolonged planning. He warned that reliance on committees can doom projects and noted malaria research linked mosquitoes to disease.
Routine claims totaling 4924.39 and emergency repair bids of 790.50 were approved at the school district No. 1 meeting in Silver Bow County Montana. J G Ragsdale resigns as superintendent effective July 1 and Douglas Gold of Browning to assume office August 1. A cafeteria report by Scott Fries shows net cafeteria debt and balances after a $6000 equipment loan from student funds.
In Ossining New York Mrs Anna Antonio 28 faces execution by electric chair with only 48 hours left. She is accused of conspiring with Sam Farraci and Vincent Saetta to murder her husband in 1933 for his life insurance. Also awaiting execution are Sam Farraci Vincent Saetta and Joseph Murphy linked to the Durables Mike Malloy case.
Late returns from Florida democratic runoff show U S Senator Park Trammell leading Claude Pepper with 79 032 votes to 71 765 after 1 027 of 1 284 precincts reported in Tallahassee.
Chicago June 26. Andrew Sciacca cafe owner reported abducted and spirited away by six men posing as policemen. He returned to his home about 24 hours later, ending the brief but tense ordeal.
Oklahoma City report says Deputy Sheriff George Kerr, while searching a well-furnished house, fired at himself twice in the dark. He was not injured, but two full-length mirrors were shattered.
The Dionne quintuplets near their one month birthday in North Bay Ontario show weight gains ranging from one half to one ounce. Yvonne now weighs three pounds one ounce Annette two pounds thirteen ounces Cecile two pounds eight and a half ounces Emilie two pounds five and three quarters ounces Marie two pounds three ounces.
Administration officials project a currency expansion of at least 940.5 million dollars by year end due to the silver purchase plan. Representative Dies says Treasury bought around 70 million ounces, with silver valued from 44 cents to 1.29 per ounce possible.
Bun Riley quotes George Baker saying he and Bill Moore had “put a couple of fellows away” after a long questioning session. The victims William Gann Homer Beasley Hobart Watkins were found slain near Canadian, Oklahoma. A note on a candidate card was found near Beasley’s body.

William Taylor aged 102 years 7 months and 25 days died in Lewistown after living with his daughter Mrs. Joseph Boucher. Born October 31 1831 in Quebec he was a farmer by trade and retired 15 years ago. He leaves two daughters and two sons. Funeral set for Thursday morning.
Roosevelt reads a plan approved by labor advisers to revamp mediation under the Wagner act. The proposal envisions a central labor board replacing the National Labor Board and aims to settle strikes and labor disputes with an executive order likely within days. Wagner leads the board, Perkins and Richberg support the reform, Johnson calls it a new deal.
