Torrential rain floods hit Butte area damaging Capri Motel
Torrential rains swelled Dublin Gulch flooding Butte streets and the Capri Motel at 220 N Wyoming. Motel manager Jackie Scott said 18 inches of water flooded first floor rooms and courtyard while Mary Hoy estimated up to 100000 dollars in furnishings and equipment damage. Dorby Apartments owner Ray Neuberg reported about a foot of water in basements and flooded utility rooms. County Commissioner Hubert Johnson noted widespread damage across streets on Granite and Silver Bow, with many residents contacting officials.

Bozeman youth escapes death in granary
A 16 year old Bozeman area boy Leroy Arneson was buried by grain during an auger spill at Henry Alberda ranch 12 miles west of Bozeman. Workers cut a hole in the granary wall with a chain saw to release grain and free his head. Helena’s Mother Berry, born June 21, 1854 in Australia, celebrated her 113th birthday.
