Reports say Japanese forces set a high voltage electric barrier around British and French concessions in Tientsin to deter entry, amid a military blockade and unconfirmed chatter of possible settlement talks. The foreign office in Tokyo hoped for a prompt resolution as clashes were feared.
A Senate commerce subcommittee expanded a House river and harbor bill from 83.8 million to 407.9 million dollars. It adds projects on the Rio Grande and Platte rivers, Cherry Creek in Colorado, and a Sacramento flood control allocation. The package totals 161.2 million for navigation, 87.4 million for flood control, and 157.6 million for multi purpose works.
Mr and Mrs Cecil Bartholomew sue Freddie Bartholomew’s aunt Myllicent Bartholomew for 1 million dollars alleging fraud and conspiracy to obtain custody. The suit seeks 200000 actual damages 300000 of Freddie earnings and 500000 exemplary damages as litigation over the child star continues.

The captors of Robert Burgunder arrived to testify at his trial set to begin next Monday in Phoenix Arizona. Sheriff Earl Sell and his brother Mayor Marion Sell of Johnson City Tennessee captured Burgunder after he stepped from a church. State evidence alleges the 22 year old college student killed two automobile salesmen in the desert.

Witnesses tested a faulty air induction valve as a possible cause while 26 men remain entombed in 240 feet off Portsmouth. Henry Ford alleged sabotage linked to the Squalus Thetis and Phenix disasters in Detroit and Washington.
A bipartisan coalition in the Senate fought to end President Roosevelt’s emergency power to devalue the dollar, halt the use of silver purchases, and maintain a 2 billion dollar stabilization fund. Senator Adams led the effort in the absence of Senator Glass while supporting economic recovery goals. Senator Wagner defended the power as a tool against currency depreciation and potential international emergencies.

David Matthews 88 of 1125 East Mercury Street died after a months long illness. Born in Swansea on August 5 1850 he began smelting at age ten in Wales and worked across three nations before retiring in 1910.
Arrangements announced for two Miss Montana events the elimination to select Miss Butte and the state finals. Local girls have entered to compete July 1 at the Broadway theater for a finals berth with the state winner earning a trip to world fairs, Panama Canal, and Miss America in Atlantic City. Harold Schilling led questions on the public debt while Casey Pierce denied a Monaco or Fiji treaty. Dr. H C Joesting presided over a lively program as part of All Kiwanis night noting 2,030 clubs observing nationwide as the international convention opened in Boston.
Police search for Judson Woods a 41 year old miner of 729 South Dakota missing since 11 oclock Saturday morning June 10. Woods described as five feet eight inches tall 145 pounds last seen in a brown suit coat dark trousers brown shirt and dark blue cap. Previously employed at Mountain Con mine.
Ray Olson, 35, a fugitive and deputy killer, evades a heavy posse across the north woods near Moose Lake Wisconsin. After spoilers with dogs and tear gas, he evades capture at multiple cabins and is said to have raided a Moose Lake general store for food and supplies while on the run.
Police officer Ed O'Connor suffered hiccups for nine weeks while telegraph and postal services profited from the wave of remedies sent by readers. Messages poured in by telegram letter and phone offering cures from ear pulling to champagne gargles as he lay in bed.
