School Bond Issue Rejected By Narrow Margin
A recount of several precincts on Tuesday confirmed the high school bond measure failed by 33 votes. Precincts 2 5 20 24 25 were recounted for machine totals. no transpositions found and the tally stood at 6 646 votes for and 6 679 against. Trustees have not decided on a second election.
Seven Montana prisoners escape. four on foot toward Flint Creek
Seven state prison escapees remained at large in Montana after three fled on horseback from a cow camp Monday night and four more escaped by picking a lock at the prison ranch south of Deer Lodge. Officials identified four on the run as Duane F. Stuit Justin Lee Wing Earl Taylor and Gary Allen. They were last seen heading toward the Flint Creek Mountain Range and were unarmed wearing blue shirts and pants.
