Israel apologizes for shelling U S ship Liberty
A U S Navy vessel the Liberty was attacked by Israeli jets and torpedo boats in international waters near the Sinai. Ten were killed and about 100 wounded with 20 critical as Washington protested and Israel apologized. The ship, a communications relay vessel, was en route to aid evacuations and had been operating with Sixth Fleet destroyers nearby.

Crash Kills Two Men Near Missoula on Highway 10
MISSOULA AP Two men died when their car collided with an empty cement tank truck about 19 miles east of Missoula on U S Highway 10 Thursday night. Coroner Larry Livingston identified the deceased as Alex Palmer Jr 39 of Seattle and William Anderson Jr 30 of Gary Indiana. The cement truck driver Cameron Storely of Billings was uninjured. He said the car jumped out in front of him.
