Jet and Helicopter Crash Kill Four At Patuxent
A Navy F8U Crusader jet lost control after launch and struck a helicopter at Patuxent Naval Air Station killing four people. Two Langley airmen, pilot 1st Lt. Frank A. Williams and crew chief S. Sgt. Clyde A. Chatham, died in the helicopter. An ambulance driver and a base operations member also perished. The jet’s pilot was critically injured.
