Lightning destroys Rainey Mountain ski lift in blaze
A Dillon area ski lift at Rainey Mountain Ski Resort was destroyed Thursday afternoon when lightning struck two 500 gallon gasoline barrels. Firefighters and Forest Service personnel arrived within minutes but lacked water to combat the blaze. The lift melted into a molten mass of metal.

Road bids to total 15 million in Montana highway program
Bids on 15 projects, including the state’s largest road job, will be opened June 24 by the Montana Highway Department. Child Hit By Motorbike In Butte No Serious Injury
A five year old girl Heidi Bruno was struck by a southbound motorbike at Utah and First in Butte Friday morning. She suffered a black eye and headache but was released from St James Community Hospital after treatment. The rider Gary Matthews seventeen was arrested for accident investigation and released on recognizance. authorities said he had no city driving permit.
