Death of Beloved L. O. Evans Shuts Down Butte Social Life

The passing of Lewis Orvis Evans, chief counsel for the Anaconda company, frozen social activity in Butte last week. Invitations for dinners and entertainments were recalled as the community mourned. Yet as summer approaches, clubs like Butte Country and Lakeshore anticipate renewed vigor with events including a Wednesday ladies luncheon and a Saturday dinner dance.

Father Kavanagh Is Guest of Honor at Parish Breakfast

A social breakfast hosted by Immaculate Conception parishioners at the Silver Bow club honored Rev. Father Vincent M. Kavanagh after his first mass at the Helena church. Attendees included a long list of clergymen such as Monsignor Willging Monsignor Day and Very Rev. Dr. Hoff, along with numerous family and local figures from Helena and nearby towns.

Mrs Evan James and her young daughter Mary Catherine have departed for home in San Francisco following a visit with Mrs Mary Robertson and her daughter Nora of 626 East Galena Street. The Montana State School of Mines held its annual junior promenade in the school gymnasium transformed into a garden like ballroom with plaques and pennants in school colors.
