Montana receives an additional 150000 in drought relief funds, joining the 350000 previously announced. Gov. Cooney will coordinate with Hopkins on work projects to provide forage and feed or seed to farmers, with grants issued on application and possible revolving fund use.

Indianapolis June 5 United States Senator Arthur R Robinson of Indianapolis was renominated by acclamation at the Republican state convention. Iowa results show a progressive Republican and a Roosevelt Democrat will clash for the town governorship next fall. Dan Turner won the Iowa Republican nomination in a tight race over Ralph W Colefish as Clyde L Herring seeks re election alongside FDR.
The administration announced a one half cent per pound processing tax on sugar as part of a broader adjustment plan. The tax will take effect June 8 along with a Cuban sugar duty cut and tariff reductions. A quota system will limit sugar production and imports from Cuba and insular possessions. About 64.76 million dollars is expected in revenue distributed by region.
The senate approved a conference report on temporary air mail legislation authorizing a presidential expert commission to draft a national air policy and one year contracts set by the interstate commerce commission. Air mail postage drops to 6 cents an ounce on July 1, contracts extended, and lines with certain affiliations barred from contracts. Debate raged as lawmakers consider further measures.
Rain spattered across dry farm regions easing fears for crops in the bread basket though experts say the drought remains. President Roosevelt urged a 525 million emergency drought relief program to aid burned crops and support seed, food and cattle purchases while grain prices rose on expectations.

In Chicago court Ickes says in a bold tone I told them they could go to hell during testimony in the disbarment proceeding against Chicago lawyers Lucius J. M. Malmin and C. W. Larsen. He accuses the men of trying to force presidential influence for Malmin to become Virgin Islands governor.
About 900 to 1,000 International Mill and Smeltermen union members are ordered to walk out of the Anaconda Copper Mining Great Falls plant at 7 30 Thursday morning in solidarity with Butte and Anaconda miners. Thomas Brown of Butte leads the international union. The plant recently filled a large order for 450 miles of copper cable for the Great Falls Fort Peck power line.
Secretary of Agriculture Henry A. Wallace faced a thorough denunciation of Department of Agriculture policies during the Wyoming Stock Growers' Association annual convention in Douglas Wyoming on June 5.

Washington, June 5. Subscription books for the treasury 800 million dollar offering were closed tonight. Officials said the 500 million dollar issue of 2 percent notes and the 300 million dollar issue of 3 percent 12 to 14 year bonds were heavily oversubscribed. Total offers will be tabulated later. Subscriptions mailed by midnight are eligible for allotment, and books stay open until Friday for exchange bonds maturing June 15 and August 1.
The president's water-flow committee recommends over 60 million dollars for irrigation flood control and power in Wyoming and Montana. It endorses Casper Alcova reclamation at 10.7 million and highlights Sun river Milk river Con rad Valier Musselshell and other Montana sites for future consideration.
The late filing rush brings five new candidates into state races in Helena. Wellington Rankin and Leonard Young seek the U S Senate. H Leonard DeKalk files for associate justice on the Republican ticket. J Ward Crosby runs for Court Clerk with George J Crumby as Democratic candidate. Sherman W Smith announces GOP bid for Congress in the First District. W B Sands of Chinook becomes a Democratic candidate for Chief Justice. Rankin is a former U S district attorney.
Montana Governor Frank H. Cooney will confer an honorary Doctor of Laws on Frank C. Walker of Butte and New York City at Montana School of Mines. Walker, director of the National Emergency Council, arrives in Butte today for the annual commencement.
