Twenty three thousand five hundred fifty one registered voters in Silver Bow County can vote in the June 5 primary. The ballot lists 65 candidates for local offices including state senator and constable, with 29 Republicans and 26 Democrats competing for party nominations. Democrats face several tight selections for seven state offices.
Polls open at 10 a m and close at 8 p m DST for Tuesday's primary. Precincts 1 to 48 include schools, halls, churches and civic centers with locations across Butte and surroundings. Multiple contests include 30 would‑be nominees for state and county offices and unopposed Republican and Democratic nominations.

MISSOULA The car driven by Charles Snook of Hamilton was recovered from the Clark Fork River but was empty. Bella Jean Rowan of Missoula, the passenger, was swept away during the Friday night incident after the vehicle plunged into the roily waters. Snook swam to shore and told officers the woman was missing as deputies and highway patrol searched through the night. Snook was jailed briefly Friday but released Saturday.
Democratic candidate John W. Bonner accused Arnold Olsen of seeking power and destiny during a Silver Bow Ballroom address in Butte. Bonner, backed by Dr. Harry Farrell, warned Olsen would bypass legislature and courts, raise use of National Guard, and push to enforce his will.
The University of Nevada will award 200 graduates at the 66th commencement next Monday with blank diplomas wrapped in ribbon due to a printing error discovered late Friday night as officials were signing.
