Butte man dies from head injury in fall
Jack W. Hibnala, 53, of 532 E Park, died Saturday morning from a fractured skull after a fall Friday night. He was taken home unconscious, then rushed to St James Community Hospital where he died. Born December 5, 1912 in Butte, he lived there his entire life. Continued on page 19.

Joseph Bonavita a 60 year old tavern owner from Brooklyn spent Christmas Day handing out crisp $2 bills totaling $10,000 in the Daily News Building lobby and later at Times Square. He said he did it to do good and get rid of the money despite his wife Emma’s past protests. Police accompanied the charity event as Bonavita distributed bills to strangers and enjoyed the scene with reporters.

The three day Christmas weekend toll rose to 505 by 11 p.m. EST Saturday as snow and ice snarled highways. A Greyhound bus crash near Medford and Grants Pass injured many, a two car crash near Bogue Chitto killed seven, and a Jennings crash killed six including five from one family. Kramlick Promoted to General Superintendent at Anaconda
Emil S. Kramlick has been named general superintendent of the Anaconda Reduction department in Anaconda. He will take the post January 1 under Frank H. Day, with Marvin K. Hannifan announcing the move. Kramlick, a Colfax, Washington native and Washington State University graduate, started at the Anaconda smelter in 1941 and has held multiple roles including assistant general superintendent. He and wife Adeline Vanisko reside at 1600 W. Park.
