The $45,000,000 farm relief loan measure for 21 drought states passes both houses without a record vote and goes to President Hoover for signature, with the option for the president to authorize food purchases if needed. Senate also moves to vote on receding amendments to the $116,000,000 public works bill.
Paris reports a presidential decree suspends Parliament until the second Tuesday in January. This adjournment gives Premier Theodore Steeg three additional weeks to govern with stability as France awaits new legislative action.
Professor Albert Einstein arrived from New York on the Bergenland and toured Havana today. He was greeted by government officials and Cuban intellectuals as a tropical sun made Havana one of the warmest days in weeks.
Dr. M A Brannon chancellor of the Greater University of Montana said after his Eastern trip that substantial endowment support for the Montana School of Mines is not improbable. He outlined discussions with several endowment agencies and expressed optimism on future backing for higher education.

In Kansas City Kansas on December 19 the federal court clerk announced 156 defendants in prohibition cases. The same day Maj. Charles A. Shepard faced jury deliberations in a murder trial, with defense attorney C L Kagey denouncing government witness testimony and challenging the autopsy and nurse statements amid closing arguments by Erskine Wyman.
Coast guardsmen, ranchers and fishermen searched after a fishing launch capsized near Tomales Bay. Nine people are believed drowned. two youths, Ornburn and Grant Gray, were injured while trying to save them. Names include Jack Frease and Helen Frease of Marconi, Antone Augustine and family from Marshall, and Manuel Augustine the cousin.
Gunmen in three cars open fire in southwest St Louis as workers watch. Louis Mulronney is killed with eight bullet wounds in a feud linked to the November slaying of Dewey Goebel and Lester Barth. A ditch-digging crew witnesses the exchange and several gang members flee.
James F. Bannon aged 55, held in Portland on murder charges, denies any connection to the slaying of six A. E. Haven family members in Schafer North Dakota. His son Charles Bannon, 22, is already held for the same murders as authorities plan further questioning en route to North Dakota.

Jam Teagarden, Fergus County state senator, dies suddenly at Lewistown from an intestinal ailment with heart disease. Born 1862 in Marengo Town, he lived in Marshalltown Deer Lodge Drummond Philipsburg and Harlowton after early printing work. He owned the Daily News in Lewistown and later the Denton Recorder.
Christmas shoppers packed Butte stores last night taking advantage of late closing hours. Stores will stay open late again this evening and on Monday and Tuesday, a custom well received with all businesses reporting strong sales.
George Sim onich was arrested at Park and Main for crossing against a red light becoming the first pedestrian in the Butte district to defy traffic signals. He appeared before Judge Shea and paid a fine after declining to speak. Officers Sullivan and McLeod described his defiant reply and assertion of crossing.

The man would be about 65, matching the slain auctioneer, and might still be associated with the auction business. The description aligns with the Memphis man per police.
In the North Sea Cattegat area the Finnish steamer Oberon collided with Arcturus in dense fog. Reports say 10 or more of 79 aboard are missing with perhaps 35 to 43 drowned. Arcturus offered help despite damage.
President Hoover sent Christmas greetings to disabled veterans assuring the nation's grateful remembrance of their service and sacrifices. The message was issued from Washington on December 19.

A Senegalese soldier went amuck at Fort Duserrat in Perpignan trapping 2000 troops gendarmes and police inside the vault as darkness closed in He opened fire at noon killing three soldiers and wounding two before retreating into the underground vault.
